review 1: Matt Thorsan chosen as Thor’s representative, Destined to fight trolls, monstrous wolves and giant serpentS, but he’s only thirteen. While Matt knew he was a modern-day descendent of Thor, he’s always lived a normal kid’s life. Most people his small town of Blackwell are direct descendants of either Thor or Loki, including Matt’s classmates Fen and Laurie. But now Ragnarok is coming, the end of the world, and it’s up to the champions to fight in the place of the long-dead gods. I like the story because of the epic plot is has were the main character is just a teenager going up against this huge monster or disaster. The story having this background information on the Norse gods made it even better because I learned more about them and their culture. I do feel th... moreat there was less in the book than wanted, but still a good story.I recommend this book to people who like a book with the Norse gods and that has a little action in it. The book is for people who would like something to read for a week or two with you a bored. The book is just a time wait to pass the time. I was ok to read the book because I had time to spear.
review 2: LOKI'S WOLVES is an interesting twist on the myth of Thor and Loki and a great modern day twist on it. The fact that this is meant for younger readers just makes it even better, in my opinion. I loved reading this book and plan to make sure my daughter reads it soon.Matt Thorsen, descendant of Thor, is the chosen one to fight the serpent when Ragnarok happens. Once he's told this the Norns, seers of the past, present and future, start coming to him. From them he learns that he needs to get Loki's descent to join him. There is just one problem with that, Loki's descent is Fen, and Matt and Fen do not get along at all. He's also told he needs to find the other descendants of the north and find Odin. Fen makes a decision not to hand Matt over to the wolves and ends up teamed up with Matt. Fen's cousin, Laurie, ends up going along with them to go find the twins. They run into all sorts of craziness along the way, from trolls, to evading the police, to witches. They realize they must also recover the shield and Thor's hammer as well as finding the descendants. By the end of the book they have found all the descendants but trouble keeps following them. The ending was kind of a cliffhanger, which I don't know how well younger readers will take. But overall this was amazingly well done. I will definitely continue on with the series.***I received a copy of this book via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. less
