review 1: Meh. Rydstrom & Sabine's story was all about them imprisoning each other, usually to a bed, and then battling wills & lust to see who'd give in first. Yeah, that was 90% of the book. Snooze. I only read it because it would be detrimental to the overall plot to skip it & its info. Forced read. Rydstrom is known for his exceptional calm, Sabine breaks that, but he's still nice & kind to her. Sabine has been kicking ass, taking names (&heads) since she was 12, 488 years worth, so she's evil fun. I enjoyed her pranks. Nix is the best part of this whole series. But she's barely in this book. ;(
review 2: I seriously love all of Kresley Cole's books, they're just too good! Sabine was wonderful and I loved how she was on the bad side turning over to the good, kind of... more. She was funny and I absolutely loved her attitude towards everything. I also loved that she had power over the big, bad guy that everyone was afraid of. Rydstrom was cool as heck. He did kind of annoy me for being so righteous and blaming Cadeon for losing his crown, and not being subtle about it, but he was pretty cool with everyone and I liked that he seemed to have an easygoing attitude despite all the issues he still has to fix. Also, I love all the ladies in these books. Like, seriously, this group of women is the best I've ever read of and I'm glad Kresley Cole was able to create female characters that are funny, strong, emotional, crazy, and just about everything great. My favorite is obviously Nix The Ever Knowing, AKA Nucking Futs Nix because she's just amazing, but everyone else is just as cool. less
