review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I think a lot of the things in this book people don't think about. I really liked the recipes and information about pH. However, I think the enemas and colonics went a bit too far. Overall the book made me think a lot and will help guide me to eat a little healthier. But I do wish it was more about what you should eat and the food itself, rather than the extras such as baths, yoga etc.
review 2: This inviting book is chock-full of really interesting information on setting up an uber-healthy lifestyle. As someone who has read a lot of books and blogs on food and health and also watched many documentaries, I can't say I learned much that I hadn't heard before, but I loved the way it was presented. It's very conversational -- to the poi
... morent that sometimes she took it overboard with the cutesy phrases. But I still liked the connection I felt to the author, Kris Carr. Her back story is that at 31, she was diagnosed with inoperable, untreatable, incurable cancer. She was told that it was slow-moving, and so time was on her side. She started doing the only thing she could: changing her lifestyle. She studied nutrition and ditched all of her processed and diet foods. She stopped partying. She learned about body pH and ditched the animal proteins. She picked up many lifestyle habits that help balance and purify. She started a big focus on detoxing. And, guess what? Over 10 years later, she's the healthiest she's ever been and her cancer is lying dormant. It's an inspiring story, and not the first I've heard like it. I think it gives cancer patients something big to think about: the idea that our bodies have magnificent healing abilities when given the right tools. (And, no, I'm not encouraging anyone to skip chemo. I'm not a doctor, after all!) less

Just didn't like this one much. The writer's voice--as others have noted--was grating and distracting. There was a lot of unsupported nonsensical recommendations--some of which are actively warned against even in the crunchier crowds. I (perhaps over-generously) gave it two stars because I appreciated the message to eat real food, and because some of the sections written by experts were quite interesting and helpful. Despite these positives, this isn't a book I'd be comfortable recommending.

LOVED this book! A friend recommended this to me and I just finished it. If you are interested in going vegan/just eating better for you health this is a great book. She also has recipes in the back and a 21 day cleanse I am gearing up to do. I made the Buddha bowl and my husband and I both loved it. I also enjoyed learning about my digestive system more...so many things in the chapter go with your gut that floored me.
