review 1: This was a great mystery. I usually can figure out, or have a good idea, who the perp is within a few chapters but this book kept me wondering till they answered it themselves. My only complaint was that the author showed you so many characters and at the end didn't tell you what happened to some. I don't expect a happy ending in all my books just a solid ending. Overall I loved this book, I hardly put it down in the time I read it.
review 2: Overall, a well-done mystery and thriller. I was relieved to see she's written two more books since this one and that I'll have more time to see these characters' lives unfold against the backdrop of another gritty mystery in Sweden. What is it about the Swedes and doing this genre and ones close to it so well? Sure som... moree things revealed themselves early on, but I believe this was done on purpose so the reader could remain anxious as they waited for the characters to figure things out - though one detail was never specified that I thought should have been. And the ending...blessedly real rather than convenient and neat. I friggin' LOVE that. Great read IF you can stomach it! less
