review 1: The life cycle of a sea turtle . . . only of one born at the time of the dinosaurs. From hatching on prehistoric sands to swimming out to the wide sargasso sea to graze to the return as an adult to lay eggs, the story is familiar (as I'm a sea turtle fanatic!) but populated with prehistoric creatures. Text is simple (deceptively -- carefully crafted language, a gently rhyming poem) enough for storytimes and young readers. Definitely going to use this for a STEM storytime!
review 2: The rhyming of the book is wonderful; a natural rhythm develops as you read aloud. The plot itself is quite good as well, Archelon must dodge predators and disguise herself on the ocean floor. Names of many different dinosaurs are mentioned throughout the story, so this book could be... more a great learning experience for any young dinosaur enthusiast.The colorful full-page pictures are well done also. They are not only realistic, but could carry the story all on their own. I think that a child could have a lot of fun just looking at the pictures, without the words. less
