review 1: This was amazing. It turns several D&D and fantasy tropes on their side while having fun the whole while. The Rat Queens are one of many mercenary guilds in the city. Betty, Hannah, Violet, and Dee represent a range of perspectives and attitudes, but don't get between them - they are friends and adventuring buddies for life! I enjoyed that each one of them was distinct in personality as well as appearance. The whole volume read like a D&D session cranked up to zany, and I loved every second of it. I'm looking forward to reading their further adventures!
review 2: Lovely! A kick-ass fantasy series with female leads who aren't just male fantasies in chain mail bikinis. Humor and violence in equal quantities, this series has enough magic and mayhem for any
... more fantasy fan. The characters spring to life from the page. The artwork is good without being Look-At-Me flashy. While it may not be the absolute greatest comic I've ever read, it definitely raises the bar for the fantasy genre. Excellent, excellent stuff. Eagerly looking forward to volume 2 and beyond. less
