review 1: 3.75*A very beautifully told story of second chances and overcoming grief to find the light on the other side.And coming to terms with things and people not always being who you thought they were.Frank, an ex-priest died in a slightly mysterious manner, that will probably never be cleared up, but his death and coming to terms with it cause Steven, his lover of 4yrs to go to his last parish to try and find some peace.Steven meets Evan his first night in town, and discovers many things, about Frank, himself and Evan.Evan is dealing with his own grief from the death of his son.It's a very calm story, I can't describe the feeling better than that, despite the subject of the book, it's not drama and tears and wild emotions..it is a calm understanding of letting go, moving on an... mored loving people, past and present.My main niggle was the ending, it is very hopeful for these two, I just wanted a few more pages, just to be sure, i was never totally sure about Evan's willingness to be 'out'.
review 2: I didn't know how to rate this since I quite liked it at the beginning and all the mysteries about Frank were quite intriguing. It was very nicely written and did pull me into the story. However, I was reading and reading and suddenly I'm reading about the author. There's all these problems and issues that have to been presented and I end up hitting a brick wall called the end. It certainly caught me off guard while I was reading the e-book with my ipod touch to the point where I thought my file was cut off somewhere.If a sequel is made out I'll probably change my rating, but for now I just felt too unfulfilled at the end. I guess I'm just not much of a fan of HFN or unresolved endings. less
