review 1: I liked so much the first one. This was a more difficult read but i liked it lot and it is still a really empowering and feminist book.Still sorry for my poor english.At first i had a hard time with being interested in Dauphine. The way she is presented i could not get attached like with Cassie. And this is strange because i m a plus size girl and i usually feel strong attachement to plus size character. I didnt have this impression of her learning something along the steps.I read both book in a few days and i m not sure if this talk was in the first book or the second but the "slut" talk was so necessary because there is still so much people who think this. There is no slut, like there is no women who deserve to be assaulted. I liked the way Cassie can now meet guys on he... morer own and be honest with them about what she wants: no games.During this book i began to dislike Will. At the end, I thought for me he represent the "old fashioned" lover in romance: the one with some kind of old fashioned idea about women. He is nice but he is still stuck with some mysoginist narrowminded idea well hiden about "slut" and "ladies". In a romance, he would have been the one to awaken cassie to her new self.I couldnt understand why he was angry about the secret society. Because all along her secret aventures, she was single, he was never her boyfriend, because he was in couple with another woman.Who is he to criticize the woman which he broke the heart after telling her she is THE ONE. He made her "the other woman". (I m happy she is smart enough not to pin for him sadly but try to find her happiness elsewhere.)And then he excuses his behavior by thinking he is doing the right thing. Staying with a woman he doesnt love for a baby is proof of his old fashioned personna. This kind of relationship make everybody sad: the guy, the mother and the child. All this time he hurt cassie: he say he love her, but cant be with her because of the baby. But he want her friendship and he use her to take care of things in the restaurant. He is jealous whan she lives her own life. And when he feels bad after the baby drama, he use her for confort. Then he treats her like she did something wrong with SECRET. He make her feel dirty. So i really liked the end: the way she think if WILL would be happier with a sad cassie than an happpy Cassie confident in her sexuality and mind, he doesnt deserve her.I will soon read the third book and i just hope cassie will not forgive Will and go back to him. It is all about him, him, him. He is not very interested in her blossoming, only when it benefits to him. Perhaps she will open her own restaurant and kick his ass with pastry chef ?
review 2: I wasn't sure more books were required in this series. If the end of the first book finished with Cassie and Will finally being together that would have been great so I was dubious to see where this book would take me.Cassie now takes a role within S.E.C.R.E.T, recruiting a new member and new men for the fantasies. She is now confident in herself and easily chats to men and as Will is not available she goes out on dates. She recruits Dauphine. The fantasies Dauphine has are more imaginative than Carrie's and got me hot under the collar, policeman and cuffs, pilot and cockpit, I leave the rest to your imaginations.Pierre is causing trouble and the actions he takes make for an interesting plot running along side Dauphine's experiences. His actions cause trouble for both Cassie and S.E.C.R.E.T and it's uncertain on whether either will survive the trouble.I hope book 3 does the series justice, it is required as there are unanswered questions, I'm just not sure how much more the story can be stretched. We shall see...... less
