review 1: Самое печальное, что если ты прочитал три рассказа Бэррона, то, считай, прочитал тридцать, а то и триста. Приемы и декорации одни и те же, достоинства и недостатки -- тоже. Очень хотел полюбить творчество этого автора, но, похоже, не судьба. Не моё.
review 2: Good, but to this reader's eyes the seams are still showing. Went looking for a horror writer with punch, one who can really write like a champion yet scare the cosmic bejeezus out of me. These stories are good, particularly Hand of Glory and The Redfield Sisters (my favorite), but I was still left wanting. It's har... mored to be terrified with sometimes inconsistent characters and contrived dialogue (it's a given that I overlook the overwrought descriptive passages that create "atmosphere"). Maybe I'm asking too much. less
