review 1: I do not recommend this book for the picture book reader, which is stated as '6 to 10, grades 1 to 5."I thought this book was pretty funny, until I got to the last page which says: "It's a Book, Jackass." If this is the type of humor that you want your child to learn, then this book is for you. Here's my take on it. Just because a 'jackass' is a male donkey doesn't make it appropriate for readers who are picture book age. Using the word 'jackass' is not important to the story, and the word 'donkey' could have been used just as well. Which makes me wonder why the author chose to use a word that is more often recognized as an offensive term, meant to insult another person by using the name of a body part, than as a name for a male donkey. The rest of the book is very good, a... morend funny without needing to use any derogatory terms to help it along. I will not check this book out of the library to read to kids, or purchase it. I think it's pretty sad if we feel that we need to use these types of words in picture books to get a kid away from their computer games or TV shows.
review 2: I can connect to this book because it becoming more and more unusual to see people read books. I love reading books, physically holding the books and flipping through the pages. But, many people are so into new technology that allow you to read stories online. This makes me feel so old sometimes and outdated. But, I feel that just because there is a new way of doing things does not mean that way is better. I would encourage children to read physical books, teach them to find books in the library, and teach them to appreciate the books. I would also use technology to support lessons about the book because it is important to become familiar with the computer in order to have many tools and resources. less

This book clearly shows the big difference in how younger readers and their parents view technology.
