review 1: At first the missing quotation marks distracted me. As the story developed, the suspense overshadowed the lack of quotation marks. It was a page turner. Desiring to know little Jimmy's fate kept me reading, but at the end of the story I had unanswered questions about some of the characters. Although answering those questions with my own ideas does keeps my focus on the book long after I've turned the last page. Often this makes a book more enjoyable and memorable, as is the case with this title. I will be reading more from this author.
review 2: Larry Watson is turning out absolutely winning books of the West, and LET HIM GO is among the best. Others include Montana 1948 and American Boy, Leaving Dakota. His sense of place brings the Dakotas and Montana up clos
... moree with its landscape and characters. His style borders on poetry for detail and rhythm. The story is compelling enough to make me late for church or beg off having dinner till later. I haven't been so happy to find an American author in a good long time. May the good books keep coming. less
