review 1: Meh. I can't say I particularly liked this ending. The lines keep blurring more and more, Ian was murdered and Bonnie ended up promising her first child to a dragon for money. I keep expecting stuff to finally make sense but so far...no such luck. I really hated Ian's death. Not only because I absolutely loved him but mostly because it was such a stupid death. I am not a happy camper after this! If there is another book coming...I'm not sure I'll read it.
review 2: What a brilliant author and story. The writing style drew me in from the start and I found myself immediately caught up in the story. I can't believe I haven't read anything by Laura Anne Gilman prior to this book. Despite the fact I've read so many books in this genre, the author has the talent to
... more make the story fresh and new. There are a number of other books in this series and an earlier related series. I've not (yet) read them; however, I didn't have any trouble following the story. Mind you, I plan go out and acquire the books I've missed at once!**SPOILER**My only niggle is a fairly major character is killed very suddenly and that seems rushed. It just happens and everyone seems to be able to go back immediately to what they need to do without any emotional scenes...it was just a bit too easy for the characters. More was alluded to, I would have just liked to have seen some of this reaction. less

Ack! Just feel frustrated by how little happens on this book. Facts restated, repeatedly.
