She wants to be painting, but she can't seem to quit her job.Fiona listens to victims of violent crimes and draws portraits of their attackers from their descriptions for the police.She's determined to quit, when police chief Jack Bowman convinces her to talk to one last victim. He has a dead Hispanic girl and murder is similar to another plus an attack to a live woman. He wants Fiona to talk to this woman so he can at least have a lead.She draws the suspect, and gets dragged back to Bowman's small town when another teen girl goes missing. As Fiona finagles her way into the case,, she's finagling her way into Jack's heart. Jack's kind of a Clint Eastwood character — flinty, decent, and cool, but with a kernel of emotion buried... more deep inside somewhere, and Fiona gives up fighting her attraction to him. Jack never fought his to her!These two get closer as things begin to escalate. There's neo-Nazis, a boneheaded county sheriff, a dandy sidekick, and alternate romantic interests for both the leads!
review 2: A guilty pleasure read with its mix of provoctive romance and suspense. Fiona Glass is a forensic artist who is called in to consult a case--which turns out to be fully of twists and turns. I sped read through the book and really like the personalities of the main characters. Favorite quote: "That's a good assumption. I don't have a car." She heard the bite in her voice and wish she hadn't let it come through. less
