review 1: The Queen of Water is an awesome example of a finding yourself, your identity and who you are kind of book.I love the fact that it is set in Ecuador. I barely know anything about the Ecuadorian society and community. This book is a good teacher.I hated the imagination, she was always dreaming. ALL. THE TIME. It was very annoying, because most of the time she would be like I wish this, I wish that instead of working for a change. Especially at the beginning.I also hate the fact that she was very reluctant and inexperienced throughout the novel and couldn't differentiate between the many situations and emotions she went through and had.
review 2: What a wonderful story based on the real life of the young Ecuadorian girl Maria Virginia Farinango, who at age 7 was
... moresent by her poor indigenous family to live and work in a mestizo home, no pay, no days off and quite often abused. Virginia was a very resourceful person and taught herself to read and better herself, but always had a bit of confusion as to who she was. She always saw how badly the Indians were treated and for many years tried to deny her heritage. It is a beautifully told story of finding ones self and ones place in society. Highly recommended. less

I like nonfiction-ish stories a lot! Note: It is condensed into one story, so it flows better.
