review 1: Less than 24 hours after receiving our copies, the eldest and I have already finished it, and I've read the first 20 pages aloud to the KitKatPandaBatWolf. Oh, we love these books. And this morning I realized why. Unlike so many books for the new novel reader (those Daisy Meadows books, for example) there's a little bit of snark here. Not a lot. Just enough to keep the fantasy grounded. The girls are confronted with big mysteries, but also with the mundane aspects of life. There are mysterious gifts, and groceries to buy. Evil people to thwart, and regular folks doing their jobs. They may share magical powers with their respective cats, but there are still litter boxes to scoop.I love this series.
review 2: I love this series! One of the few children's
... more series that I find completely entertaining and eagerly await much like I would an adult series. The Huits are back and this time they have to deal with Marcia seizing power from Annie, a new teacher (the fiendish MR. McG!!!), and Wicket calling Social Services on them. All in all a good read and it is exactly what I've come to expect from this series: a few laughs and decent mystery. Definitely one to recommend to to the eight to twelve set. less
