review 1: I had chills. They were multiplyin'. Gonzales grabs you by the throat and refuses to let you breathe for several hundred pages. This is a masterwork of construction, and for the reader, he or she will find several survivors or casualties with whom to identify. The stories are that rich, full, and personal. The story is so well put-together, that the author should be hired by the NTSB to compile the full facts any time there's an accident. Strangely satisfying are also the threads that could not be tied: the money on the plane, the identity of the inspector, etc. Also fascinating, and revealed very well are the dichotomy of human frailty and resilience. Some of us have one, some the other, some both. They're all here. We are all in this book. It is amazing. Remember to try ... moreto breathe every dozen or so pages. You'll need it to wrestle loose the lump in your throat.
review 2: Flight 232 by Laurence Gonzalez is an intense and exciting nonfictional story about a tragic flight that has a mechanical malfunction while at around 37,000 feet. An engine on the plane blows out and the crew on board heroically do everything they can to land the plane safely. Throughout the story it tells different points of view from people on board. It shows the panic and intense feelings that you would be feeling if you were in that situation. Although a very sad and tragic story it is definitely worth a read.I would rate this book a solid 4 stars. I rate this book 4 because it is perfect for any person that likes nonfiction. It has so many emotions packed into one book. It will get you on the edge of your seat right in the beginning of the story and keep you on edge for a while. You will be very attached to this book in the first 5 pages.I recommend this book for everyone over 13. This is a amazing read for teens, adults likewise. It’s perfect for a quick and fun read at night or when you have free time. The emotional force of the crash and the people that had their lives taken from them Is extremely sad but will encourage you to keep reading this book. less
