review 1: I've enjoyed Gonzales' prior works, and based on the title expected something similar to his other books on survival in extreme and everyday circumstances. But the second half of this book veers away from the survival of the individual and expands the scope to the survival of humans and the survival of species on the planet. He examines far beyond just survival, bringing in ideas such as fractals.A great read.

I read about 1/3 of this, but could not get interested. A very scattered mishmosh of trivia.
