review 1: I actually read these separately. James Penney I found in the Thriller anthology. Guy Walks I read in the NY Times article, June 6, 2009. I preferred the James Penney story because it was longer, it had more characterization, and it challenged me to think about the nuances of Jack Reacher's character. I gave it 4 stars and the other one 3 stars, but since the 4 star was longer, I guess it averages to 4 stars!
review 2: I love, love, love Jack Reacher and so I thought this would be a great book for those times when I've just read a fabulous book, am not quite sure which book I should read to follow it but still need to have a book on the go! I was a little disappointed. The stories weren't 'meaty' at all - they were good enough and, if I wasn't comparing t... morehem to other Jack Reacher novels (including last year's short story 'the Second Son') then I suppose I would have enjoyed them more.Both stories involve Reacher, although not as the main character. Worth a read but not earth-shattering! less
