review 1: Interesting book, and nifty concept with having the CD to go along with it. The music/narrative interplay is a little slow and drawn-out, even for me (and I'm not very young), but there are cool benefits to following along with the CD as opposed to simply reading it - Lemony throws in little jokes (not in the book) here and there while narrating, and even sings a spot of French opera. Pretty cool.
review 2: This is a great book to learn about how an orchestra works. Told as a murder mystery, it is everything you would expect from Lemony Snicket and then some.It is definitely a fun read aloud book. The illustrations are great too. It is the sort of book where the reader learns something without being preached to.I just wish the library's copy had the CD. I am su... morere that would be amazing.
