review 1: Absolutely hilarious tale of an inspector interviewing members of the orchestra to find out who has killed the composer. This is a great way to introduce the different instruments in an orchestra to kids while keeping things amusing for adults. Even better is the CD that comes along with the book on which Lemony Snicket reads this dark and mysterious tale while the orchestra follows along and "illustrates" each scene. I only wish I could have seen this performed live.
review 2: I found the collaborative CD that comes with this book to be simply amazing. Lemony Snicket (yes, I know that is not his real name, but it is his wonderful persona on this CD) and Nathaniel Stookey have created a fun, entertaining, and well orchestrated CD. I truly think many teache... morers could use this in the classroom to teach students about the different instruments in the orchestra. The whole story is told along with the playing of wonderful orchestra music in all the right places. It truly is fabulous!! less
