review 1: I love this book series, its recommended for children as young as 10 but I still really enjoy the series. It written so that older people can still read it and think it was written for them. Its so complicated and well strung together you just want to keep turning the pages and I just had to finish it to find out what was happening. I'm also loving that Lemony Snicket is also entwining some of the Series of Unfortunate Events stuff in with this series. Like the mysterious 'eye' tattoo that is on Count Olaf's ankle. Pure sleuthing heaven!
review 2: This book was an excellent next chapter to the exciting mystery. The pace sped up quite a bit and we got some excellent new information, along with many new questions, most of them wrong questions.There was one partic... moreular moment between S. Theodora Markson and Lemony where they actually had a moment. Their relationship as "master" and apprentice seems to have gotten a bit of development and that was really nice.Also, there was a wonderful reference to Count Olaf, and Josephine showed up for a cameo! That was really exciting.I can't wait to read the next installment whenever it comes out. Here's hoping for a journey into the Clusterous Forest, and at the very least, mention of Beatrice. Lemony Snicket's writing style enchants and captivates as always. Highly recommended. less
