Food Lovers' Village mysteries
review 1: Death Al dente by Leslie Budewitz is the first in a food lovers'village mystery series. The towns opening of their Festa di Pasta festival is marred by murder and when Erin's mother, Fresca, becomes a suspect, Erin becomes involved in the hunt for the killer. The town of Jewl Bay and its residents sounds interesting and welcoming and I look forward to reading more. Recipes and food facts are included making it difficult to read without snacks close by.
review 2: This was a delectable treat that had my mouth watering for the delicious food and the unsolvable mystery. Ms. Budewitz had me wanting to catch the next flight to this small town in Montana the moment I opened the book. I enjoy trying to solve the mystery, but Ms. Budewitz had me grappling for answers. B
... moreecause the characters kept withholding information, it was difficult to solve the mystery. I'll admit, I had an inkling of who the killer was but I didn't know the reason until Erin helped the police solve the crimes. Overall, this was a yummy beginning to a new mystery series. It has a small town, quirky characters, and enough flavor to punch you straight in the gut. I am eagerly waiting for the next installment. less

Great setting and interesting crime, but the slow pace didn't keep my interest.
