review 1: This book is about a family who looses their son Orion because he gets kidnapped. His sister, Meg, a family friend go out on a journey to find Orion. I think this book is written for teens because the lexile level is a little bit too high for kids. This book is valuable for an education standpoint because it is one of the books that is compatible with the first semester of AP European History. I think the author was trying to entertain the readers. The theme of the book is to take a risk even if it puts your life st risk. A lesson in the story is that sometimes you have to be brave. For example, when Meg needs to face a ghost and needs to pretend to not be afraid in order to talk to the ghost because she needed to get information about her brother O... morerion.
review 2: YA fiction is not my thing, but I do love a great historical mystery novel, and The Haunting of Charles Dickens is a corker. The mystery is compelling and the young heroine is plucky, smart and admirable. Dickens fans will find an array of Easter eggs to contemplate and savor. The action is tight, and the characters well drawn. Be warned: You'll want to read it straight though the dark and blustery night. less
