review 1: Simon! Yum yum - definitely my #mcm today! I was so intrigued by Chelsea in To Love and Let Die that I eagerly one-clicked this book and I must say it was awesome! Poor Simon- born in a wealthy titled family but believing he was pushed to the side in favor of his brother- he has issues with being worthy of love. Chelsea is a hot mess and has been so addicted to her hacker career that she has trouble interacting with humans as well as having a major crush on Simon but choosing to live in denial. When she receives a bomb in her condo she turns to Simon but begs him to leave Big Tag- who she calls Satan- out of it. So Simon agrees but only if she becomes his contracted sub. So she does but she really needs to work on submitting....Then The Collective comes after Chelsea a... morend Jesse and Simon have their hands full keeping Chelsea safe and Ian out of it but betrayal comes from Simon's family and The Agency recruiter Ten as well as a fellow hacker from Chelsea's past and it starts getting hard to tell friend from foe. We also meet two more Taggarts - yes- another Big Tag!- and Simon and Chelsea have to let their pasts go and trust the unexpected love that has grown between them....Another great story in Masters and Mercenaries and now I am on to the next one! Love Lexi Blake!
review 2: Talk about unexpected twists and turns. Ms. Blake has once again given us a story full of action and emotional depth. We again see what friendship and family mean to the Mckay-Taggert bunch. WithLexi Blake’s A View to a Thrill we finally see Simon and Chelsea work through their chemistry and emotions without their family’s well-meaning cock blocking. With her life at stake, Chelsea has no choice but to look deep within herself for what and who she wants. She turns to the man she has always trusted even as she hides the real reason from herself and him. I loved how Ms. Blake showed us Chelsea’s strength even as she allowed her to be weak. But we also got to see that Chelsea isn’t the only one that needed to let go of her past. Simon also had some demons that precluded him from seeing just how far Chelsea came out of the shadows in an effort to give them a future. He wasn’t as perfect as his upper crust British accent and style would lead one to believe. His skeletons may not have been as deadly but they were enough to cut a budding relationship in its tracks. The depth of emotional growth of both Chelsea and Simon even as they dealt with betrayal was incredibly well articulated by Ms. Blake. She allowed them a chance to grow together even under the action laden circumstances they found themselves in. Then with the help of friends and family, they were prodded to “see” each other and not through lens clouded by their past. I thoroughly enjoyed my return to this world and look forward to where Ms. Blake will take us next. Five Shooting Stars!! less
