review 1: Meh. I loved her book "What Alice Forgot" but this one was just so-so and rather formulaic. About private school moms, bullying, domestic violence and secrets in a small community. The first 2/3 of the book seemed repetitive and boring to me. The last 1/3 was much more interesting, when all the secrets are exposed and the big "incident" that keeps being referred to throughout the book is finally described. It's light reading, but just barely held my interest enough to get to the end.
review 2: Another great book, but perhaps a bit too long... It felt like the plot lines of Jane and Celeste dragged on (I just wanted to say: I got it, I got it, let's get on with the mystery, I want to know who killed whom and I want the right person to be the victim!). Well, it d
... moreid turn out that way: the person who ended up dead totally deserved it and the person who helped them on their way was the right person, too. So, a very satisfactory ending. I loved the structure, with the three story lines weaving in and out and but also that clever foreshadowing of the death and the Greek chorus quality of the interjected parents' comments. less

Very entertaining and well written. It is funny but addresses a serious issue too.
