review 1: I really like how this author represents smart, independent girls. Bee is a fantastic character, full of spunk and facts. I liked Toby too, with his quirky mating animal facts, he was a fun romantic interest. The mystery was a good one, and I certainly didn't pick the twist, but I never really liked Gus so it was hard to care about catching his killers. Quick read, once I found the time to just sit and read, but not as good as some of Lili Wilkinson's other books. Three stars!
review 2: Another great Australian teen novel, a mixture of mystery and romance. Bee is a year 12 student working as a lab assistant at the Museum in her summer holidays. Here she meets Toby, a failed Uni medical student, who sprouts trivia about animals and their habits. They become emb
... moreroiled in the mystery surrounding the suicide of their boss, Gus, who was the Museum's taxidermist. Bee, who is a fan of Trixie Belden, et al., is convinced that Gus was murdered. This is an engaging novel, funny, clever and with two sleuths who will appeal to their teen readers. Will Bee and Toby solve the mystery, will their budding romance survive the misunderstandings which develop, and is Toby all that he seems? Enjoy. less
