review 1: Let me first say it was a mistake to get the omnibus edition and read them one after the other. While I might have enjoyed them all if I'd taken a break, reading all five one after the other made me start to hate Dante a bit. That being said the first three were really good, a bit Anita Blake without all the sex, and set in a future where magic is a part of society. Dante starts off as a kick-ass heroine (before she goes a bit crazy) and I even kind of liked Japh (before he turns evasive and abusive), but somewhere around the fourth book she loses the plot a bit (see what I did there) and it gets a bit repetitive. Plus nearly all my favourite characters die. Do yourself a favour and either buy them individually or have the self control to stop about halfway through and hav... moree a break :)
review 2: This chick complained sooooo much in this series that I really did not want to finish it. Yet I did and I completely regret it. If I treated my bf the way she treated her.... well whatever he was to her... he would seriously dump me and never look back. Japh, yes he was a bit controlling but his only concern was Dante's well being, yet Dante at every turn it seems was ditching him, running away from him, thinking of killing him over and over and over again. She was so easily lead by everyone else yet would not believe in Japh even though he was the ONLY one that stood by her side to the end. COME ON ALREADY!!! less
