review 1: Every morning Tippy's mother is upset with the messy state of her bedroom. Tippy doesn't know how it gets that way, she only remembers falling asleep. But maybe she walked out the door...and down the road...and into the garden. Maybe she walked to the top of a mountain... The pictures follow young Tippy's nightly stroll of maybes which could explain all the visitors she gets in her bedroom. The large panels are illustrated in the colors of midnight and mystery. The text is sparse but together with the pictures they tell a bedtime adventure not to be missed.
review 2: I really, really like Lilli Carre's work! Her first book for children I think won't appeal to a lot of kids, but I liked it quite a bit. It has sleepwalking and dreams of animals and a messy room m... moreade messy by imagination and dreaming… sort of dark and surreal for a kid book, but I can imagine some kids liking it a lot, maybe just that one kid who doesn't fit in, like Tippy! I am inclined to like children's books that resist the idea of typical children's books. Subversive books that aren't sappy. This is one of those. The art, done digitally, both the drawing and color, is surreal and a little dark, and beautiful and dream/nightmare-like. less
