review 1: I liked this & would put it on par with Sara Paretsky's mysteries. If you love the state of Maine (or at least the Down East part) and/or you have an interest in coastal life (by that I mean sailing) this will be just what you're looking for.Interesting note: I listened to this. I liked the reading though I thought the reader's voice a bit more "girly" than my image of Jane...however, she made a mistake in the first couple minutes of the audio. The reader says "returne to Miami" when the actual text (YES, I checked...I'm a librarian fer goshsakes) reads "returned to Maine."
review 2: Honestly, I was able to figure out the mystery way before the main character did....which really was a let down because the main character was a detective in Miami who supposedly a
... mores a hight "clear rate" according to her inner thoughts. So how come I was able to figure out that the "dead" guy was a smuggler just from the amount of coffee he had in his freezer and she couldn't. Maybe she needs to watch move Discover or TLC to know something as basic as smugglers use coffee beans to throw drug dogs off the scent. less
