review 1: I definitely would have liked this book more if I enjoyed the main character. I found him way too overdramatic. Another thing that was always sitting in the back of my mind as I went through this book was how it was written. I thought that this book was better suited to have a third person narrative, not first. Some of the reflections Simon makes about himself really sounds like something nobody would ever think. There are times when Simon randomly wonders about what has caused him to change or forget who he was, and thoughts like that don't happen very often, and definitely not every day. Simon just didn't feel like a human being. His thoughts were those of someone outside the story, not living it.

... moreave a happy ending. I know that even the world of fiction can't be all rainbows and sunshine and that we'd all be bored quickly if it was. However, I cannot stand brothers who treat each other poorly. Family is so important. I can understand having to walk away from an abusive situation and I know that some people just never change and there's only so much that can be done, but I'm so appalled by what Paul did in this book that I could cry. Jude is seventeen years old and somewhat autistic and he is a thousand times better as a brother than Paul ever will be. I'm still reeling over how it could have gone like it did. This weekend the book is being sold/donated. less

Really, really depressing. And not the good kind of sad, no it's the really useless sadness...
