review 1: I am so glad that I was given the chance to read yet another great book from this series. I enjoyed myself immensely while reading the first volume, this was was no exception. Lisa is an amazing author without a shadow of a doubt. I cannot wait to see what she writes next.I believe that there is no point in mentioning the fact that the book is hot, the title kind of gives it away:)Samantha is an amazing character, she made some mistakes sure, but she did not deserve to be thrown out of her house. I felt so sorry for her when she had to start dancing in a bar to support herself. There were a few scenes that were heartbreaking. It might have not been that clear, but you could almost feel her wanting to get out, to leave that place. I am sure that no woman would enjoy working... more in a place like that.Harrison…hmm I really liked him, but the fact that he would even enter place like the one Sam was working in makes me doubt him. He is an intriguing character, but for a while there I had some doubts. I am glad that I continued reading cause Harrison proved to be much more than I first expected. He become a character worthy of Lisa’s writing and of her books. The plot was interesting, but it was not new. I was so glad when at a certain point it changed drastically. Seeing that chance was amazing. It was like seeing a larvae turning into a butterfly.I will end this review her because I have already given you a bit too much information and I hope that you will give this book a chance as it is definitely worth reading.
review 2: This was my first read by Lisa Desrochers. Where has she been hiding?!?! She fell onto my radar by way of the library, of all places. I realize I started with book three in the series, which I try to avoid doing, but, this is all the library had, and, I kind of picked this one up on a whim, not expecting much. What a great read! You're sucked in from the very beginning and despite some serious potential for some major lags in pace, Ms. Desrochers' writing masterfully keeps you engaged and interested...and, guessing (as there is a who-dunnit plot to this one). I love books that are romancy and steamy with a bit of a thriller twist to the plot, and this book delivers on all fronts. We also get a good dose of character development, backstory, and personal growth as an added bonus. Well done you, Ms. Desrochers! Now, that is a LOT to expect from this genre of book, so, there are a few flaws. I'm pretty sure any person in, let's call it "the business" (so I don't give away any spoilers) -- but I don't mean the exotic dancing business either -- will have some serious issues with feasibility and reality of true practice, but, it's close enough for suspension of disbelief. You just kind of have to agree with yourself to overlook that a bit for the sake of the story. This is a nice, well rounded story that doesn't seem to rush any points, nor leave you hanging with a cliffhanger. Such a refreshing change of pace for this genre! I'm glad my faux pas of reading book three first didn't seem to leave me in the dark, or spoil too much of books 1 and 2, because I plan to start from the beginning so I can check out more of this author's work. less
