review 1: This has been at the back of a shelf on my 'TBR' pile for that long now that guilt has finally made me read it. I'm glad I did as it was a nice change. It's an easy sort of read that meanders along, slightly predictable and a bit undramatic but quite satisfying. I liked the fact that the story is revealed bit by bit and most of the time the reader knows more than Tiffany. This is the first I've read by Lisa Jewell and I will probably read more of hers when I'm in the right mood.
review 2: The Truth about Melody Browne-Lisa JewellRead 20 March 2014Wow…the story of the book is really..utterly beautiful... A little bit sad, but satisfying and amusing at the same time.. It told with two time-frame, the first time-frame is the life of Melody on her current days (t
... morehirty something lady) and the second time frame was a story of Melody’s childhood (that made us know exactly how it was). Melody’s childhood story is really heartbreaking, and still make me thought of her ill-fated childhood over and over again after I finished read it. How a mother can treat her only daughter like Melody’s real mother treat her. In my opinion (as said by Grace), a mother should never allowed any unhappiness she was experiencing to stop herself from being a proper mother. Melody’s real mother did the opposite of that, yet Melody still love her and coping through it all until her memory’s gone at the fire accident. Melody’s story is a about finding your roots, your history. It’s about Melody’s loneliness, she lived only with her son Edward, just the two of them after Melody been kicked from her home by her parents when she’s pregnant at 15, no relatives, no friends except Stacey. She and Satcey share the same flat and fate, being pregnant too young but lead different fate afterward, yet still be bestfriends whatsoever. Along the book Lisa Jewell is describing how the old life of Melody..along with the fragment of memory she caught in current days as the effect of the hypnosis she had. The story weave beautifully, with simple words yet touching.. and as a mother I feel really really sad for Melody..want to hug her and comfort her..and give her the love she had never have from her mother. There are couple of character but I didn’t feel difficult to remember who is who, because everyone has strong character and I can relate with most of them, even Jacqui or Charlotte or even Melody’s mother, although she was very awful, I can understand her state emotion. Losing babies..sometimes can be more destructive to certain people (people like Jane), I know it is horrible but in my opinion, why not being grateful of what we have than regretting what we have missed.. why should a 4 years old little girl should burden her mother unhappiness.. poor little Melody, but yes she’s an interesting little girl (as said couple times along the book) and growing up as tough lady.. I really really like and sympathize with Melody and really care that she should have an happy ending. less

Quite surprisingly I loved this book. All quite plausible, occasionally sad and a few tears of joy.
