review 1: Finished this last night at 1am so had to finish it before going to sleep so must have enjoyed it. Never read any of Lisa Jewell's books before and so was open to a new author and have now purchased a few more titles-it a small way Maya reminded me of Rebecca and how the 2nd wife was always considered irrelevant to the life that she had entered. I feel sorry for Maya as she didnt seem to get her happy ending- all the other characters got the chance to make peace with their "crimes" but she was lost. Really disliked Adrian and he should have a sign on him for all womankind-STAY AWAY- he was the coward of the piece and spent his time looking for something better.
review 2: I will confess that I really love Lisa Jewell's novels and was really excited to realise t
... morehere was a new one out. But how disappointed I was. It was just average with none of the magic of Vince and Joy, Ralph's Party etc. I think the reason being was that I really disliked the main character Adrian and felt no sympathy towards him whatsoever. I also felt that Maya was very much sidelined and that after her death when everything was explained it was a matter of "Oh everything is alright now" not that this young woman was dead and nobody at that point really seemed to care. Also what about Maya's past. Did she have parents, brothers or sisters of her own because if she did nobody seemed to care about them. It was all Adrian, Adrian, Adrian. less

Enjoyed it, can't rave about it - bit long winded in parts but still an enjoyable read.
