review 1: Overall I liked Rainshadow Road, but I find the paranormal elements a little weird when I am reading an otherwise contemporary book. This is just personal preference though. The romance between Sam and Lucy was quite slow to build, but I liked them together. I was quite disappoint at the resolution with Lucy's sister, Alice though.I've heard that LK's historicals are really good so I think I will read those soon and flag her contemporary work.
review 2: I loved Rainshadow Road, and I am also a HUGE fan of the entire Friday Harbor series. First off, let me start by saying that my entire life, I was never into reading, ever. Then a couple of months ago, I randomly came across Lisa Kleypas' Dream Lake and being stuck in an airport while trying to kill time waitin... moreg for a flight, I started reading it. OMG, I fell head over heels in love with that book, and also with reading itself! I quickly picked up Rainshadow Road and Crystal Cove, quickly reading both of them. Of the 3 books, Dream Lake is still my favorite by a long-shot, I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. For me, Rainshadow Road didn't capture me as intensely or as emotionally as Dream Lake did, but it was still very good -- I would say this book was a 4.25/5 ... more than a 4, but less than 4.5 (Crystal Cove was a 4.5). The story between Sam and Lucy in this book was sweet, but I felt the chemistry between Alex and Zoe in Dream Lake, and even Jason and Justine in Crystal Cove, were more intense, more romantic and more appealing to me. This was still very good, but I really hated the character Alice, and feel Lucy was a bit too unrealistically nice and forgiving towards Alice. Lucy was just a bit too emotionally unrealistic for me. But I still loved the book. less
