review 1: Didn't find Ella or Jack all that interesting as characters... and then there was a baby. I realised during this book that I'm quite disinterested in reading about babies and their needs.I feel bad about Ella's past (no should have had that kind of childhood) and her family (both her mother and sister are just awful), but I felt like she was a bit of a doormat. When she tries to stand up for herself, I didn't think she went quite the right way about it... which annoyed me because after all that she's been through, she's got the right to be assertive, but why do it like that?! I don't know... I've waited too long to write this review because I was trying to work out what I didn't like about it and now I've forgotten where I've gotten annoyed at her (despite getting annoyed ... moreat Ella multiple times).I felt rather fractious reading this book.
review 2: My favorite in the series! We'll have to see if Joe's book can top this. Full review:This story was simple and sexy. It just hit all the right notes for me..from a heroine I like, to our charming, southern, possessive yet caring alpha hero, and not to mention a cute baby. Even the ex-boyfriend was a good thing! Similar to a complaint I had with the first two books in this series, I think the story would have been vastly improved had we gotten even just a little bit of the hero’s POV. At least with this one we understand what made Jack fall for Ella…she treated him like a normal person and wasn’t after him for his money. She simply fell in love with the man and that’s all he’s ever wanted. Although there were some OOT and unbelievable characters and events - (like Ella’s crazy mother and too-relaxed ex-boyfriend, or Ella being able to switch gears and move to Houston for 3 months, or how easy caring for a newborn all alone while still working seemed to be) – imagining and being swept away by Jack and Ella’s relationship and love story was effortless. This is mostly due to Jack and all his perfect glory! Gorgeous, successful, kind, loyal, rich, funny. Ella had no chance! Plus he was adventurous, creative, physical, and considerate in bed! And how he took to Luke..hot men with babies! I would swoon if such a man is real!Suffice it to say, I completely enjoyed this book..I can imagining rereading this because it’s definitely one of those comfort, feel-good books. It was also nice to see the rest of the Travis family. That scare at the end brought out some fear and feels, for sure! I look forward to Joe’s book!! Gimme gimme!!! Last thought – I wonder if the mention of Luke’s real father and the giga church in Houston is a criticism of these establishments, especially since the largest one is Joel Osteen’s church in Houston. less
