review 1: This is my favorite Lisa Kleypas book yet. I'm not a fan of alpha-man thing but I'm going to go out there and say I admired how Jack handled Ella. He wanted her and he was not shy to make it known to her. Also, the way he just accepted Luke as part of Ella's life and how much he understood her. I can go on and on and gush more about the awesomeness that is JACK TRAVIS but I'll save you from that. Best TRAVIS ever.Ella Varner was simply amazing. I loved everything about her and her relationship with Luke was adorable. This is a character you simply want to have a happily ever after. And she did.Cannot wait for Joe Travis' book....
review 2: A very enjoyable read! Grabbed me from the *very* start and kept my interest all the way through. Far more going on than "j
... moreust" the romance plot (which is a delight) --- but wow! Ms. Kleypas, what understanding of dysfunctional families, childhood trauma, coping mechanisms and human nature! And so well written. Yes, there are sex scenes (I personally skip those parts), but am glad to say the book is NOT filled with the filthy language with which another popular author litters her pages. Loved seeing the protagonist's bond grow with the baby, watching how the anti-marriage theme played out, and the laugh-out-loud moments. Favorite quotes: "...women who are willing to cheat a little can always be talked into cheating a lot." (Gotta read it in context, then ponder it...)"I was struck mute, my heart pounding like a dryer full of wet sneakers....""No one can have total freedom," she pointed out. "The whole point of a relationship is to have someone there when you need him." less

Maybe closer to a 2.5, I'm rating this at a distance of years so it's tough to judge with 100% accuracy. This book was better than the previous one, but still not great. I found the plot to be quite formulaic.Look, let's face it. Lisa Kleypas apparently doesn't have any intention of going back to historical romance, which is a shame because she never put a foot wrong there. Her contemporary debut was stunningly good, but she's never come close to reaching those heights since then. I'm sure I'll read book #4 as soon as it comes out, though, because I just can't quite give up hoping.
