review 1: I'm not sure what to make of this novel. If I had stopped before reading the final 10%, I would have given it 3 stars for sure and possibly 4. However, for me, the ending fell very flat. It was totally ambiguous and non-satisfying. I'm not sure what the author was trying to convey. Perhaps it fits in with the overal theme of the book, but it just left me confused and feeling a bit cheated. I read the entire book for that ending? Really? I am torn between 2 stars and 3 stars; if possible, I would give it a 2.5.
review 2: I really had a hard time connecting with this book. At heart, it is a story about unusally close fraternal twins, Lila and Billy. When Billy commits suicide, Lila is devasted and has a hard time coming to grips with the reality of the loss. I
... moret is a story about a very disfuntional family where the lines between reality and fiction are often blurred. A very slow moving story that failed to keep my attention. A hard read. less
