review 1: I loved this book!! Actually what I really loved was the village, one where you can't sneeze without everyone passing you tissues. The sense of humour that runs through this book is just fantastic, I may have snorted more than a couple of times. I love Harry and Micah, and Micah's Mum and ..... look just assume I love everyone. The boys story was a little heartbreaking, Harry's devotion to his Mum amazing and his Dad did deserve those extra kicks, I could have given him a few myself! This really did conjure up images of England for me, just a total joy :-)
review 2: REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCEThis book encompasses what you imagine village life is like perfectly.Micah and Harry met at University and after 3 years as a couple Micah is in love and believes he
... more has found his forever. Nothing comes as more of a shock to the young man when after the graduation ceremony he finds Harry packed and leaving. Harry tells Micah it was fun whilst it lasted but he isn’t what he wants and walks out of the door.Micah is taken home to by his mother and it is a long road of recovery to get over the rejection and heartbreak. Six years later he still lives in his small home village and works as a midwife. When he pops over the road one morning with his mother to welcome the new neighbours the bottom of his world drops out when he discovers Harry and a very pregnant woman.Micah is clearly not as over Harry as he thinks and spends the next 2 weeks avoiding the man. He is angry, hurt and feeling the heartbreak all over again when Harry finally plucks up the courage to speak to him, telling him the truth of six years ago and who the very pregnant Selena really is. Once the truth is out there Harry and Micah are left to try and put back together what they started all those years ago. They obviously both still love each other and very soon things are better between them than they ever were. The story of Harrys past is one of abuse, rape and horrendous physical violence. In an ideal world this would never catch up with him again and they would all live happily ever after....but obviously that is not the case!! This is where some magnificent secondary characters come into the story. The village pensioners were a fantastic lot and when they came in to rescue the day the picture they created in my mind had me unable to stop laughing. This was a story of coming back together and fighting past demons to get to their HEA and that twitching net curtains are sometimes a very good thing!!! less
