review 1: Ava can control and create fire. Her mother was a firebug as well and to protect Ava from supernatural groups who would try to use her abilities for themselves, they went on the run when Ava was born. After her mother is killed, Ava is captured and becomes the unwilling teenage enforcer for a vampire queen. Fast forward a few years and Ava is struggling to reconcile her duties with having a boyfriend, keeping her part-time job at a bookstore, and keeping her temper. She is supported by a human guardian, and two supernatural teens who make up her squad, a dryad and a were-fox.Not as funny as Hold Me Closer, Necromancer but still a perfectly amusing and serviceable if somewhat predictable YA novel.
review 2: This was an enjoyable read. Definitely a little pre
... moredictable but still creative and entertaining. I feel like the author developed her characters well and the series has a lot of potential. I only gave it three stars because I felt like the main character didn't develop much and had a bit of a sour personality that kept rubbing me the wrong way. I'm curious to see if she can grow throughout the series. Here's to hoping. less
