review 1: If I thought Consensual took me on a ride, I don't know what to say about Coherent. In this highly anticipated follow-up, Livia Jamerlan delivered in a BIG way. She took the story down a dark and gritty road and it was absolutely amazing.Peyton and Braelynn are back, right were we left them...with Brae waking up in the hospital after her attack. Things are unclear and the doubt that surrounds her life causes her to make some drastic decisions. Those choices not only have an effect on her, but on all of those who love her, Kennedy, Gus, Loren and Peyton.I fell even more for Peyton in this book. The events with Lynn broke him. When a chance encounter brings them back together, it is game on. He pulls out all the stops to get his woman back. He grew so much through his love f... moreor her, it was great to see. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and they really steam up the pages. I loved that all of the secondary characters played a vital role in this book; their love for Braelynn evident.This book is not for the faint at heart; it will cover some tough subjects and leave you wondering what in the world just happened. Livia Jamelan slapped me in the face, punched me in the gut and just kept on writing. And the ending....perfectly Braelynn and Peyton (sorry no spoilers here). I know that the rest of their story is unwritten but if it ended there, I wouldn't be disappointed- BUT I do hope to see some more of Braelynn and Peyton in the future!
review 2: I had a hard time with how I was going to review this one. I tore through Consensual in lightening speeds, drinking up Haas, and begging for more. Coherent is...different, for PART of the time. I was flipping angry for the first good half of the book, wishing for my rainbows and unicorns as Braelynn spiraled downward. I hated what was happening to her and just wanted her to change it. Then the epiphany happened. THIS happens. RAPE happens. HEARTBREAK happens. ADDICTION happens. DESPAIR and ROCK BOTTOM happen. They ALL happen. All around us. Every damn day. Praise to Livia Jamerlan for being so bold and so daring as to enter the mind of someone that it's happening to. Praise to her still, for portraying it in a way that makes you HATE it. LOATHE it and SKEEVE it and want to throw your Kindle. Praise some more for going places in this book that most authors wouldn't dare, for fear of being rejected. And then, yes, praise some more for making me fall in love with the characters yet again when I thought it wasn't possible. Pure genius... less
