review 1: Egyptian scholar who stays in Egypt to avoid his irritating and half-crazy parents returns to London for the first time in 5 years and immediately realizes the fiery red-head with a notorious past who is supposed to be one of his few friends has changed from a skinny girl to a beautifully seductive woman. She has always maddened him, but made him laughed and understood him in a way no one else did. When she traps him into travelling to Scotland with her to restore the crumbling castle that belongs to his family, sparks fly, and composed, methodical Lisle feels himself losing all composure. And she never had any. They both know they'd never work as a couple, and yet...These characters were fun. They're both rational in their own ways, yet completely crazy over each othe... morer. The story never made me roll my eyes, though, and I read most of it with a smile on my face.
review 2: This one was adorable. Okay, the plot read like an episode of Scooby Doo (I kept waiting for someone to shake their fists at those meddling kids) but everything else was so entertaining that I hardly minded. I read this series out of order, but I am glad that I read lord Perfect before this one, because it shows us the early history of the H/h couple. I was a bit nervous that I wasn't going to like the grown-up Olivia. She is dangerously close to being a terrible brat, but the author handles her deftly enough that she manages to stay charming and not obnoxious. Lisle was no problem - he's more of a typical hero, and easy to love. You can really see how these two personalities can complement and infuriate each other at the same time. less
