review 1: This is a second book of a series, but since I didn't pay attention to the description when I picked it from my list on the Kindle I did not know that when I started. I enjoyed the book, but I think -- for me -- there was a little bit of back story that was missing. Even with that, the it would still qualify as a stand-alone story that I really enjoyed. The writing was tight, the characters were developed and likable, and the plot moved along at a crisp pace. I do think it went on too long and towards the end I just wanted it to end.It was a freebie on my Kindle and the formatting was horrible, but it was written well enough that I could ignore the formatting issues as minor annoyances.
review 2: This is a historical paranormal romance book in which we star
... moret off with the stoic, prudish Englishwoman and an 'out of the gate' mishap with her being naked and a gorgeous man in her room. Wild Desire was a slow start for me. However, within a few chapters, I found myself warming to the characters and wondering where this story was going to go.The characters are well developed and the plot interweaves the intrigue and mystery of finding statues that hold great power and the developing relationship between Beatrice and Colin. The intrigue part of the book brings in traveling through India during the Victorian era, paranormal elements from characters that add to their appeal, and the love does get steamy. These two characters don't have an easy time of it though and they do work for their happily ever after. If you are a fan of romance, you will like this book. It's not a deep thinker, but it is a feel good book in the end. You will root for these two and enjoy watching them come to grips with their feelings and insecurities. The action and mystery are interesting, but do take a back seat to the overall want of this reader to find out how things played out between Bea and Colin. I'm a romantic at heart, so it's easy for me to concentrate on that part of the book. Others may find the mystery and quest equally as appealing. less
