review 1: It was refreshing and a fun read. The pace was good and the characters were interesting. I just didn't think Grania was very smart. I'm not sure anyone would really run that fast and far and be gone that long, to get away from a man who loved her as much as the author described her boyfriend loving her. She really had no valid reason for what she did. I know it made the story, but I think there should have been a better reason for her leaving, than the reason the author chose. She tried to make it all fit in the end, but it was too little, too late in my opinion and still fell short of a real reason. Other than that, it was interesting to go back and forth from her ancestors, to her current time line.
review 2: Despite the unnecessary swearing occasional
... morely throughout (mostly by the same character) I really liked this book. I debated between a 4 or 5 but since it kept my attention throughout and I couldn't wait to finish it to find out all the secrets and see if my predictions were correct, I decided a 5 since it's been awhile since I was that into a book. I loved how she tied all the characters and stories together and there were so many stories involved rather than just the main characters. I didn't love all the things that happened in the book as I'm a happy ending type but there were enough happy things that I didn't hate it when it was over like the last few I've read. Thanks to Jenni's review I used it as my own book club choice and everyone else liked it also at a 4. Interesting and different story. less
