review 1: I liked this book but it was nowhere near as good as The Lavender Garden for me. It had great potential with the back story with Mary and Anna. What kept this book from being a 4 star for me was Matt & Grania's current day story. I felt like Matt was just an outline of a character with no depth. His dialogue was awful...in the epilogue he calls & asks Grania "how's it hanging?" WHAT?!? He just didn't fit for me...his whole side story with Charley seemed forced just to come up with a plot-line for him & a reason for Grania to leave for Ireland. All in all a good story that had potential to be great.
review 2: If you are a hopeless romantic, if you love a good love story, if you enjoy the intertwined drama o Downtown Abbey, then this is the book for you. As for
... moreme, fun page turner, but I am more cynical than this book allows a reader to be. The cheesy ending - the idea of early death for all of these ballerinas in the family, the reconciled love of Matt and Grania, the fortunes found on a cliff -- too much for me. Not enough depth of literary writing, but a fun read nonetheless. less
