review 1: Title is midleading but had read the Orchid House by Lucinda Riley and enjoyed it, so took this one from the library. Some interesting history about India and the Maharinis as well as English history. Story deals with a young Indian girl in 1911 to present day...her story, challenges, Ayurvedic home remedies, her family and adventures. Fairly well researched and I liked the writing style.Would give it 3.5 stars if I could figure out how to do the .5.....
review 2: really enjoyed this book. I have read many books where they jump back in forth between current times and past times - she did it right. Rather than quick short chapters back and forth where you feel like you are yo-you she spent the time needed to tell the story before switching to the new time zone.
... more I loved the way she brought the story together in the end - and as always she has the wow moment at the end. less

This book should get 3.5 stars. It was a fast read, but the writing itself was marginal.

Got it for holiday read. Didn't have high hope but turned out to be a page-turner.
