review 1: I loved, loved, loved this book! It took me awhile to read it because my library stack is so big, but I finally got it back from the library and read it. Lyanda, the writer and human, is a beautiful soul and that comes forth in her writing. She lives in West Seattle - not far from me - so the creatures she writes about are around me too, but I don't notice them the way she does. She makes herself available and sees a lot of critters and writes about them beautifully. Her last 2 chapters are on trees and humans. Even if read no other part, do read that last chapter -- but I hope you'll read the whole wonderful book!
review 2: The Urban Bestiary by Lyanda Lynn Haupt 337 p. Haupt is wildlife friendly and a nature philosopher. In this book she features common
... more animals found in an urban setting. She includes some basic behaviors of these animals and people's reactions to their close proximity. Recommended for nature lovers or those shocked by wildlife in their backyards. Readers may also enjoy: Unlikely Friendships by Jennifer S. Holland; Coyote at the kitchen door by Stephen DeStephano; Central Park in the dark by Marie Winn. less
