review 1: I read the book a month ago so I can't remember exactly the whole detail.I do know the big bad is still the government which would delight the conspiracy theorist out there ;)The ending shows that there will be a new baddie but will there be another book or is this the book finale?Sylvie did get her happy ending (kinda) so will we see book number 5 next April?I'm not much of a review writer, I'll leave it to those with talent. I'll just say that I enjoyed Lies & Omens.
review 2: Whoever said that UF was dead (or dying) must have read the wrong books. The Shadows Inquiries series is one of the best around. It has all the landmarks of the genre (kick ass heroine, angst, grit, monsters, federal agents and cops struggling with the truth) and it never repeats a clic
... morehé. Or better it makes them fresh.Ms Benedict is a master at writing: she includes pieces of the past in the narrative without a glitch. And even if you don't remember what has happened in the past, you can read on without problems.The plot here involves witches, shadow government forces and, of course, gods. Plus a new, future, threat. If you consider that this is the forth book in a series, you might appreciate more all of the above. less
