review 1: This was fun and for me is a 3.5 starsIf you're in the mood of an uber alpha male with OTT tendencies that has all the "must have"s from Ms Chance alpha males, well you're in for a treat. Quick, steamy and well written read I'm sure you're going to have a nice time. In a personal level I really didn't fall over hills for the hero but I get that's an subjective issue hence I didn't rate it any higher but I liked my read just fine and I would recommend it to alphamales lovers.
review 2: Ok -- in erotica, there's lots of badass alpha heroes. But in "Sarah's Surrender" there's John Garrett, who's so over-the-top aggressive that he must be suffering from a borderline personality disorder....Sarah McAlister, a sweet and pretty schoolmarm...oops, I mean high school ma... moreth teacher, meets John when she's driving through town on her way home. As he helps her pump gas, John's immediately attracted to her, and decides to pursue her. When it turns out that Sarah needs John's help with a fundraising project, he persuades her to go out with him, and then persuades her to break her engagement. Sarah has lots of doubts, and says "no" a lot, but is so overwhelmed by John that she gives in..a lot. Evidently, to John "No" doesn't mean NO!...and you almost can't blame him, since Sarah obviously doesn't mean it either.For me, John's not much of hero - or even an anti-hero. As we learn through the story, he's had a marriage go bad, but really...his response is to become an in-your-face jerk?In addition to my problems with the characters, I found the writing style problematic. There's way too much narrative...sometimes there's pages without any dialogue at all, just lots of description. The word usage is awkward and jarring, and I found myself focusing on that, rather than the story. less
