review 1: Finding a book that keeps me guessing and in suspense till the end has been hard to find but Eason's novel has managed to do just that! This novel is the first I have read by Eason and I am sure to come back for more. Filled with suspense, mystery, romance and good characters, there is no short supply of things to keep the pages turning at a rapid pace.At first, I liked it and thought it was pretty good but wasn't impressed, not too much further in though the book hooked me and as my list of suspects grew, I became more and more impressed. I don't want to give too much away but if you are looking for a Christian fiction book filled with the aforementioned parts, that will keep you trying to piece it all together to the end, then grab this one up and settle in for a good re... moread. 4 1/2 Stars
review 2: I read this series on vacation (with limited internet access) so this is more of an all encompassing review of the series, but I will add a bit about this particular bookEason created a dynamic host of characters centered ten years after the main characters' high school graduation. Each taking a different route, they all come back together for a spine tingling suspense that leaves you wondering what else could possibly happen next. Just when you think you've figured it all out, Eason throws another curve ball. This will have you earnestly turning the pages until the very last and then wanting more.Alexia was a great place to start. You get a glimpse into the characters and storyline just enough to get you hooked. Alexia has a lot of ghosts in her past that she must face in present in order to be content with her life. She has a fire in her past that haunts her, but also fueled her to become a fire fighter. After someone tries to kill her, she returns to her hometown to re-evaluate who she is. Taking the journey with Alexia will keep you turning the pages and watching her fall in love will warm your heart. Not to mention the heart stopping suspense of someone trying to kill or capture her. This is a must read, and is my favorite of Lynette Eason's suspense series, so far! I need to dive into her others ASAP! less
