review 1: Wherever Nina Lies tell the story of a younger sister (Ellie) searching for her older sister (Nina) who has been missing for two years. With the help of a random handsome stranger (Sean) who Ellie met at a party, Ellie believes with every clue she finds and Sean's help she is one step closer to finding her beloved sister. In a story full of all kinds of mystery, love, and plot twists, will Ellie ever see her sister again? This book touched my heart. With me having an older sister and it just being the two of us it made me appreciate and love her even more. The story line is brilliant! Every little detail connects to one another in some way or another and you are left not knowing what happens next. The fact that there is the added detail of "Nina's artwork" in the book made ... morethe story come to life. I can honestly say this is one of the best books I have ever read.
review 2: Dude. I am totally going to read this book for the extremely shallow reason that I share my name with the title of this book. Dude.I tried to read it for the aforementioned shallow reason, and then also because the plot sounded good. Except I reached like, page 70 when I gave up because IT IS SO STUPID. STOOOPID. STYOOOOBID. You don't just meet gorgeous guys with 'eyes the colour of wet slate', who spew some crazy stuff about how it was written in the stars for you to meet him at a housewrecking party. I mean, I don't think guys act that way. And if they do, its time for you to run away because that's just crazy. And they certainly don't come up with a simple, obvious suggestion and offer to waste their time helping you find your lost sister (who, by the way, went missing like two years ago so she could a) be dead, for all we knowb) be in a whole different country c) could have been in a horrible accident and lost her memory so she won't even remember her sister (even though that sounds like a bit of a stretch)d) have a whole new life she doesn't want anyone from her past to disrupt)Also, how do you know that guy isn't dangerous? Just because he's hot? Just because your friend at your workplace 'approves'? If you go all the way to Nebraska (was it?) with him, alone, in a car, he could literally pull anything with you and there'd be jack you would be able to do about that when you're miles away from home.Look, Ellie, if Nina wanted you to find her, she wouldn't have run away. Or, you know, she would've come back. Being an older sister (ironically named Nina too), if I run away from home, I wouldn't want my younger sister to come trudging behind me with a guy she barely knows, invading my privacy by hacking into my bank account, and doing God knows what else, to get to me. But in all actuality, I doubt my sister would be that bothered or shattered. She'd probably kick back, glad she gets our room all to herself, glad I'm not there to boss her around, maybe shed an occasional tear when she realizes there's no one she can annoy the living shit out of...so yea, this book wasn't realistic to me at all. less
